Private Lesson & Semi Private Lessons Policies
Tuition & Enrollment
Private and semi-private lesson tuition is billed as a flat monthly enrollment fee based on lesson length and program type. Weekly lessons require continuous monthly enrollment, which supports consistency, steady progress, and reserves the student's recurring weekly lesson time. Monthly tuition is not based on the number of lessons in a particular month. Scheduled academy holidays and breaks are built into the annual tuition structure and included in the monthly rate.

Adaptive and neurodivergent private lessons may have different tuition rates based on lesson structure, instructor training, preparation requirements, scheduling needs, and the individualized support provided during instruction.
Registration & Recitals
A one-time registration fee of $35 is required upon enrollment. Music Love Academy hosts two recitals per year. Participation includes a $45 recital fee per recital. Details are shared in advance.
Attendance, Makeups & Online Lessons
Lessons take place at the scheduled time. Tuition secures the reserved time, not attendance.

Up to 3 makeup lessons per semester may be granted. A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to qualify for a makeup lesson. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours' notice are not eligible for makeup.

If you are having difficulty arriving at the academy, you may request to switch your lesson to an online lesson at your regularly scheduled time whenever possible.

All other absences will be taught online at the student's regularly scheduled lesson time.

For students who are traveling or need an instrument for online lessons, the academy offers portable instrument rentals, including digital pianos, violins, guitars, ukuleles, and flutes, subject to availability.

Lessons will automatically move online in cases of inclement weather, instructor absence, or studio unavailability.

Major national holidays and occasional teacher workdays, as communicated on the academy calendar, are observed by the academy. Lessons affected by certain holidays or scheduling conflicts may be rescheduled when possible and at the academy's discretion.
MLA operates as a school, not a private studio. Teachers may be assigned, reassigned, or substituted based on availability and program needs.
All instructors are carefully selected, and any replacement will be qualified to continue the student’s progress. Enrollment is with the Academy, not a specific teacher; therefore, teacher changes do not qualify for refunds, credits, or trial lessons.
Termination
A 30-day written notice is required for any changes or withdrawal from private lessons. Tuition remains due during the notice period.
Summer Lessons
Summer scheduling is more flexible and is typically billed per lesson. Please read more below.
Group Lesson Policies
Enrollment & Tuition
Group class tuition is charged per program and must be paid in full at enrollment. Each program runs for a set number of weeks and is not billed per individual class.
Enrollment may be completed online.
Tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable once the program begins.
Attendance
Because group instruction is collaborative, individual absences cannot be made up. Consistent attendance is essential for group progress.
Makeup Policy
Makeup lessons are not available for group classes.
The only exception is when a class is canceled due to weather or emergency conditions and cannot be taught online. In that case, the academy will reschedule the class.
Weather & Closures
Group classes may be moved online or rescheduled due to weather, instructor absence, or studio unavailability. Fairfax County Public Schools guidelines are followed for weather-related closures.
Studio Environment & Safety
For the safety of students and staff, video surveillance cameras are in use in studios and common areas.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged not to remain inside lesson rooms, as this may disrupt instruction. Parents may wait in the lobby or nearby within the shopping center or parking area.
Academic Calendar
Semesters
The Music Love Academy school year is divided into three instructional terms:
• Fall Semester: September – January
• Winter/Spring Semester: January – June
• Summer Semester: June – August
The academy observes
Music Love Academy follows the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) calendar for the following scheduled breaks:

These scheduled academy breaks are built into the annual tuition structure and are included in the flat monthly tuition. Music Love Academy does not observe all FCPS holidays or teacher workdays.

If your child will not attend lessons during the summer:

A $250 reservation fee per student will hold your lesson time

This guarantees your preferred day and time for the fall
Important Notes

The academy requires a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice whenever possible for schedule changes, rescheduling requests, or planned absences to help us coordinate schedules effectively

Summer breaks, vacations, and academy closures are not considered part of the 30-day notice period

Without continued enrollment or a reservation fee, lesson times may be released
✈️ Traveling This Summer?
Lessons can continue online while traveling so students can maintain consistency and continue their musical progress. We also offer portable digital piano rentals, making it easy to practice and attend lessons from anywhere.
Photography & Media
Music Love Academy may photograph or record lessons, classes, recitals, and events for educational and promotional purposes.
Families who prefer not to participate may submit a Photo & Video Opt-Out Waiver. If no waiver is submitted, permission is assumed. Security camera footage is used strictly for safety purposes.
Payment Methods & Processing Fees
Private Lesson Tuition
Private lesson tuition payments are accepted via Zelle, sent to @musicloveacademy, or by online credit card payment.
Zelle payments do not incur any processing fees. Online credit card payments are subject to a 2.99% processing fee.
Group Class Tuition
Group class tuition is charged per program and must be paid in full at enrollment.
